Solace: Day 13
If I had to use a flower to represent my canal holiday, this would be it! Going in July this year meant that the meadowsweet was at its best. It grew thickly along the banks of the canal and its perfume filled the air. I've created this little picture of it to help me remember the splendour of it, even though sometimes we cursed it as we fought through it to moor the boat.
Today we tied up again at Alrewas, this time we all went into the village, not just for shopping but for a pub lunch. I was rather taken aback, the drinks having been poured, to be told they didn't accept plastic! Thank goodness we could find enough cash for drinks and food!
We had chosen the pub for its courtyard, somewhere where we could take the dog. Again we had to shelter from the heat of the sun.
Sadly tonight is our last night "out in the wild". Tomorrow night we will be back at Great Haywood Marina.
