.......still in the dark..........

So off I went for the MRI scan.

Arrived in good time.

Watch, bracelet, earring, chain, wedding ring, shoes off.

Lay down..........machine adjusted........"Here's the panic button"....."I'll be fine..........then the face plate went on...eyes open........nothing but white........ok, I'll close my eyes.

Noise....movement...more noise.......more movement....more noise......more movement.

Dry mouth........sweating......hyperventilating.......palpitations.......but I didn't push the button.

More noise.......more movement.........then a voice..."Are you ok?"......."A bit concerned but".........." "Ok we're taking you out"

 I was having a claustrophobic panic attack........only been in about 3 minutes but I'd been twitching so much none of the images were any good.......so they decided to terminate.

Came home............it took me an hour and a half to calm down..........I was shaking so much I couldn't drink a glass of water......couldn't even light a fag. Never had this before.......I've even worn a full face motor cycle helmet (a long time ago)..............

So...........what next.......apparently between 5 and 10 people a week can't cope with the scanner....so another consultation tomorrow......maybe a repeat under sedation....... if my GP will prescribe the sedatives and I take them myself.......or a CT scan (I've had one before so I know I can cope with it)......or find an upright scanner.........we'll see what the expert says.
