Another lovely day for Kazuko and I to show Katja, Calvin and Jason some of the many beautiful sights of Japan. This morning began with a strenuous but magnificent climb to the top of the mountain at Fushiminari, passing under the 1,000 tori gates (actually a bit more than 1,000.) We then took a train to Arashiyama for lunch, followed by a visit to this temple, Tenryuji. So tranquil. Like at Ninnaji, I could have sat on this veranda for five or six hours, quite happily. After this we walked through the bamboo forest and then down to the bridge which is the main landmark of Arashiyama. Just splendid.
