Sunset Before the Fireworks

Happy 4th of July to those who celebrate it.
My family and I are out visiting my grandparents so we went up to my grandfathers apartment to watch the fireworks.
Later in the evening (more accurate would be late at night I suppose) dad, my brother, and I set off our own little ones in the back ally.
There was one particular cracker that my brother swore was going to erupt into a ball of fire, because apparently he has set one off before, but in reality all it did was temporarily deafen the entire block.
