Tree Sculptures.

In front of the Chapel, Downing College, are several tree sculptures exhibited by the Heong Gallery,  which is in the Cambridge college grounds. The sculptor is Ai Wei Wei, a Chinese artist and activist and this is his first showing in the city. Although discussions to exhibit his work here began in 2012, the Chinese authorities seized his passport, so he was unable to leave China until recently. He will be giving a speech at the Cambridge Union. I stumbled upon these by accident. I had arranged to meet a friend for lunch and the cinema but was rather early. As I was near Downing college I decided to walk around and take some photos, From a distance I wondered what had happened to the surrounding trees then as I got nearer they seemed rather strange !. I made a point of finding out and hope to have a look in the gallery in the near future. The extra is the initial view I had. The beautiful chapel is not very old, built in the 1950's by A.R.Scott. The film we saw was 'Absolutely Fabulous' and we laughed all the way through. Although the reviews weren't good we thoroughly enjoyed it.
