When they said you could swim in the watch ....
This is not what I had in mind - get out of my watch woman and take that water with you.
Mick is the manager of the maintenance team at the Luton & Dunstable hospital.
Because of his job, Mick knows many if not most of the staff at the hospital if not to talk to, then to nod at in acknowledgment should they pass in the corridor.
Mick is having a bowel cancer screening on Wednesday - an intrusive one. Mick is very worried that it is going to be done by someone he knows.
TerryBob thinks Mick has every right to be worried. Let's put it this way, come Wednesday afternoon, one of those casual acquaintances is not going to be quite so casual :-)
I asked if he preferred the procedure to be carried out by a male or female nurse. He said female and I feel the same way as did Tim. Diana and Coral also said female which I found interesting - what does that say about our respective attitudes to these situations. Mick not being a deep thinker said that with a female he at least knew that it was the medical instrument going up his bottom and nothing else. Whilst I may have phrased it differently, I think he has hit the nail on the head for us all and I'm not inferring anything about male nurses - it's just a Freudian thing.
