Is This an Ajuga I See Before Me?
Another day, another challenge; this week the theme is “Free.” Some of these themes give me problems, today I can do little better than claim that this Blip cost me nothing and I had a little bit of free time to go Blipping. I was actually supposed to be walking Hamish, but he’s a very accommodating dog and is happy to sniff around for interesting smells while periodically coming back to check on my progress.
I seem to be stuck in a rut of flower photography at the moment, partly because it’s that time of year and partly because there are so many other things that I’m really supposed to be doing. I have consulted the local expert, Mrs TD, and we’re both fairly sure that this is a variety of ajuga, with numerous common names based on the word “bugle,” and sometimes including the word “blue.” I’ll have to go back and check on the leaf shape to help confirm the ID, though why I didn’t have the presence of mind to take a photograph of them at the time is beyond me. I guess my mind was on higher things like, “Where’s that bl**dy dog got to?”
I was a little bit concerned about the appropriateness of a flower for a mono shot but then, in the days before home colour processing was readily accessible to the amateur, I used to manage o.k. Photoshop gives so much more easy control over the tones than film did, so I don’t know why I was worried.
I wonder how many Blippers remember rolling a colour print processing drum up and down the floor until the end fell off spilling chemicals over the Axminster?
Thanks are due to Skeena for hosting this week’s MonoMonday challenge with the theme of “Free.”
The colour version is the extra.
