Pont L'Evêque

Pont L'Evêque is said to be the oldest Normandy cheese still in production - and awarded its AOP status in 1976. And it originates in and around the Lower Normandy commune of Pont L'Evêque.

I find this to be a much more flavourful cheese than its neighbouring Camembert (which I now rarely eat raw). It has a very creamy pate, with an ochre coloured edible rind. If you like mature cheeses, let it sit for a bit - the rind becomes a bit sticky but it is still very good on fresh bread!
