Flers Cemetery

We spent today paying our respects to the war dead of the Somme. It is a beautiful landscape and it's almost impossible to the imagine the carnage that took place here 100 years ago. This just one of dozens cemeteries which lie in folds of the landscape, surrounded by rolling fields of swaying wheat. It's a stirring, emotional experience. Very much worth a visit.
