It's electric

This touch- and sound-sensitive electric globe sits on the nearest thing I have to a mantlepiece, waiting for me to flick the 'on' switch and watch it crackle into life. My wee nieces and nephew were deeply impressed - if somewhat baffled - by it during a visit a couple of years ago.
Today I have a tune: a slice of obscure but highly influential 80s heavy rock. No further explanation is required!
