Loved this place.

These are whooper swans. They have begun nesting here on shetland after being missing for nearly 100 years. They came in 2012 and had their babies and they are here today. We didn't see the babies but we saw the swans. This was the nearest we could get as signs warmed us not to disturb the nest as it is illegal to do so. This is the furthest south that whooper swans will breed. Google for further info its very interesting.

Another hunt for seals drew a blank, well not exactly a blank but dad felt there should be more lazing around than there were but we saw an odd one basking and playing in the sea, so not a total blank.

We had a quiet afternoon and was even awake and alert to see the ferry leave around 6.30pm.

We leave for home tomorrow. Its been a good trip, really enjoyed it, hope dad has. Its fitting really that today of all days we are in the place that mam loved, I'm sorry she wasn't physically with us but I know she's been here everyday.

It's so easy to see why my mam loved this place.
