Lords and Ladies

Lords and Ladies, a kind of wild arum with many local names such as Cuckoo Pint or Devils and Angels.The berries, like the soapwort root of a few days ago, contain poisonous saponins which are a bad irritant and cause swelling, difficult breathing, and burning pain if ingested. These are just beside our garage in a rather overgrown part of the border. Showing red berries already, I think they are a bit earlier than usual.
