El barco

The boat here belongs to my boyfriend and was purchased on Ebay several months ago in a flurry of excitement: we imagined looking very cool and glamorous whizzing around the Mediterranean in it. After much effort and towing, it arrived here, and naturally we were keen to get it out on the water. Yesterday we had a failed attempt to do this: when it was in the air on the fork lift type lowering thing, one of the guys spotted a hole; and the plug was nowhere to be found. We were then directed to the port shop and were assured this would open in 15 minutes, so waited outside. Over an hour later the guy finally appeared and didn't have what we needed! We had to take the boat back and fortunately managed to do a repair job.
So we tried again today: this time we got it into the water, it floated, but the engine wouldn't start. A guy from the workshop came and fixed it and then we were off!
The boat is quite small and the waves were quite considerable (for the Mediterranean), so we got soaking wet, repeatedly, with water sloshing all the way up the front of the boat and over the top. It was like being on a sort of log flume ride. Apart from this it was super fun to be able to whizz up the coast. We shall now await calmer weather to try again!
