The Ruination of a Rock Song

Not being one who makes a habit of getting up on my soap-box and complaining about the state of the nation, this entry may be a tad out of character for me. But sometimes, you just have to say what's on your mind; to clarify your "status" so to speak.

After a long day at work, I called into our local supermarket on the way home to grab a few bits and pieces. Upon entering said establishment, I was yet again greeted by the ruination of a rock song!

This has been an ongoing saga for many weeks now. Why would a rock band, with the "status" of, um, Status Quo, sell out to a supermarket chain??!

Every time I hear the song, and believe me, it is played ad nauseam on Australian TV just now, so I hear it often, it urks me that one of the best rock songs of the 70's has been reduced to this, um, "status".

Every Australian reading this, unless they have spent the last number of weeks living under a rock, will know by now which supermarket chain I am referring to. For those of you who reside overseas, and have not been tortured by subjected to this advertising campaign, please, count your lucky stars right now!

Said nauseating advertisement claims that by shopping in said supermarket chain, one will discover that prices are down ~ down, down....

If you are still puzzling over which amazing rock song has been crucified used in said advertisement, I will add the link here.

In conclusion, I would like to say that when said amazing rock song was released, I bought the record, I loved the rock song, I loved the rock band.....

.....and still do! And I will also cherish the day when said advertisement campaign is dead and buried over and done with!!!

With that, I will end my rant, and get down (down down) off my soap box....
