Somewhere near Applecross

(-ish.  Backblipping this and now can't remember exactly where I took it.  Think it might have been Fearnmore.)

We got up early, packed up, and got out of the cottage a few minutes before the 10am deadline.  We really weren't in any hurry to leave, so we had another leisurely walk around the village, getting a last look at everything.  Said goodbye to Ann, the woman who looks after the cottage, then set off towards Applecross - quite a long way out of our way (we were ultimately heading for Inverness), but we had plenty of time to kill, so we thought we may as well make the most of the day.

Drove the fabulous Applecross Pass (Bealach na Bà), which was a little hair-raising (and hairpin bendy) in places, but just so beautiful.  We stopped for a snacky lunch in Applecross - rounded off with a rhubarb ripple ice cream from the little snack van there - then carried on around the Applecross peninsula to Shieldaig, then on to Inverness.  The sea really was this blue - if not bluer!

Checked in to our hotel in Inverness, had a little rest for a while, then went out for some dinner.  Everywhere was surprisingly busy, but we ended up at a nice Indian restaurant and had a delicious meal.  My Mum suddenly looked at me with a big smile on her face while we were talking - as if she was about to say "Oh I do love you," as she does quite often - and told me that sometimes she feels like my Dad is sitting next to her.  How very lovely.  (She's not losing it, by the way!  She knows it's just a feeling, but how lovely a feeling to have.)

We went for a wee walk along and across the river after dinner - then back to the room, watched a bit of Glasto on TV, and then to bed.
