Jethart's Here!

Festival Time here, and in the Borders that means horses. 

We went down to the town this evening to greet the cavalcade returning from their ride up to the Redeswire, near the Carter Bar. It's about twelve miles up and another twelve down, with a break for a speech about the battle (more a skirmish) between the Scots and the English which happened there in 15something. The Scots were getting the worst of it until the men of Jed, arrived yelling their battle-cry 'Jethart's Here!' and saved the day.  

Their descendants looked weary but happy as they rode up past the Abbey, and the band was there to lead them in. Medals and prizes were given out and we all sang lustily.  

The fun goes on for another week.
