Ettal Kloister
Today we moved to our second holiday destination further up the Bavaria Alps to Mittenwald. We had a good drive down in dry conditions but as soon as we started getting closer to our destination the rain started. We stopped off her at Ettal as the dome of the church looked impressive from the road. The monastery is run by Benedictine monks and there has been a place of worship there since 1330.
After lunch at an Italian restaurant, we noticed lots motorcycles passing by and at one point there was even a police escort of even more bikes. People were taking photos as they drove by hooting, waving and blowing whistles. I wonder who they were and where they were going?
It was raining heavily by the time we arrived out the apartment but we managed to unload our stuff without geting too wet. Later on we popped into the town to buy a few things and have a quick look round. There are lots flowers and painted frescoes on the shops. When the rain stops it will be lovely to have a good look round.
Thanks for the stars and hearts for yesterday's Grebe and chicks really appreciate it! ☺
