View on departure

Overview of Ulaanbaatar just after sunrise.  Ulaanbaatar means "Red Hero", the name given to the city in 1924 at the formation of the Mongolian People's Republic.  This is what it looked like in those days.  And what UB looked like on my winter trip in December last year.
