Bloom in July
This is the first time that I have ever cut flowers from our garden to arrange in a vase. Generally there is not enough colour outdoors to warrant a removal of blooms. However, now that Ian is raising plants in his polytunnel we have a profusion of colour and my little bouquet, which includes some wild flowers, has only made a little gap.
It's been a very busy day with reorganising an aviary for our chicks- to- be, making sure it's completely ratproof. I hadn't wanted more babies but while we were away a hen hid behind a bin and is sitting on eight eggs. As they may hatch in a week or so it's a bit late to remove them.
Spent a long time pulling up nettles and adding them to the others in a big bin of water to make fertiliser, on the advice of Monty Don, the gardening guru. The smell is obnoxious, but let's hope it works.
After a warm sunny day, it's now very windy and down comes the rain! Hope everyone had a good weekend.
