Today is the centenary of the start of the Battle of the Somme.
 
Today we remember the men who fought and died during this battle – one of the bloodiest battles in human history.
 
It seems appropriate to feature this paper poppy from our recent visit to Te Papa Museum, Wellington, NZ, where we revisited the war exhibition with our daughter - who was visiting it for the first time.
 
Near the exit, people were invited to make a paper poppy to leave at the feet of a larger than life-size model of a soldier. It was a moment to pause and quietly remember.
