Day 182 of 366 - The Old Council Chamber!
Today's image was taken in the Cathedral Quarter in the City Centre of Coventry. The view is of the Old Council Chamber. This room is located in St Mary's Guildhall. The Chamber was used for meetings of the Guild, the Mayor and other council members since the 14th Century. The look of the chamber as it is today is the result of a restoration of the room in the 1930's. One of the older objects found in the chamber is the Central Table, which dates back to the 16th Century. It was purchased for the council chamber in 1902 at the cost of £20 from Charlecote Park. It is said that when the Table was at it's original home in Charlecote Park, Sir Thomas Lucy used it to sign the Arrest warrant for a young William Shakespeare. He was accused of poaching on the Park estate. It was because of this that Shakespeare fled to London to continue his career as a playwright. The Great Chair along the wall on the far left of the picture dates back even further. It was made in the late 14th century. It has been in the chamber since 1579. Both King James I and James II have used the chair on state visits to Coventry.
The photo was taken using the app ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.
First I used the app Snapseed to edit the photo. I cropped and straightened the image, then I added both the Tonal Contrast and HDR Scape filters. I then boosted the highlights, saturation, ambiance and warmth, along with adding some more sharpening. Next I used the app Mextures to add the Baja Sunrise formula by Justin Halbert. I then used the app ShockMyPic to add a painterly effect to the image. Finally I used the app PhotoToaster to add the Clarify preset, the Vibrant FX, a medium dark vignette and the Stucco texture. I then added the Parchment frame.
