Not What I Had in Mind

We went along to St Boswell's Village Hall tonight to hear a celebration of poetry with Carol Ann Duffy, the Poet Laureate and friends - Jackie Kay, Imtiaz Dharker, Gillian Clarke, John Sampson and Liz Lochead. They are touring and performing in places where there are independent bookshops, and we are lucky to have one here. The hall was packed and it was an excellent evening - entertaining, touching, and thought-provoking. 

Alas all the pictures I took were duds, so I've fallen back on a phlomis snapped in the garden this morning. It's an odd-looking thing. but it definitely has presence. I don't think it has inspired any poems.
