Lanark

Another fine example of Tesco sucking the life out of the High Street. It used to be a vibrant wee place with loads of independent shops. There is one chain of shops that seems to be on the up though, goes by the name 'Retail Unit to Let'.

However there is a fine old fashioned Drapers (called Brooks I think) where you can still buy real clothes. V neck jumpers like you wore at school and proper trousers with button fly and turn ups! I confess to making a purchase or two.

What else happened in Lanark today? Saw a poor old biddy carted off in an ambulance, she didn't look at all well. On a brighter note a group of youths were larking about, one jumped up and grabbed the edge of a bus shelter and started doing impressive chin-ups. He then goaded others to match his prowess. One responded to the challenge - as he grabbed the shelter and dragged himself up he had his tracky bottoms and kecks whipped down to his ankles. Much to the ribald delight of the ladies waiting for the bus. If he never had a worry about the magnitude of his manhood the ladies may have sown seeds of doubt in his mind.

Popping in to Edinburgh for lunch tomorrow then on to see the World Press Photo exhibition at the Parliament. I'll be the one in a V neck and trousers with turn ups!
