The Important Blue Square

This blue square reflector is in the middle of roads where I live to signify the presence of a fire hydrant with accessible water for emergency crews.  The fire hydrant on the side of the road (in our neighborhood in someone's yard) is directly lined with the square in the street.  The extra photo shows the same square as you approach on the road.  This allows fire crews to be able to sight accessible water quickly and without scanning the sides of the road.  As I photographed this one I was close enough to realize it's metal square with blue reflectors angled on the sides so it is visible to anyone traveling the road.
