Ourselves As Immigrants

They must have decided
to take everything
but the kitchen sink
and get out now.

Not an action to be derided.
We all need a safe place to sing.
And to laugh.  And to drink.
Maybe we should follow

and leave a divided
nation behind. But if we bring
our hearts to another’s border
will they sink?

May we come in?
