Was It Really So Long Ago

18 Degrees at Best

What a fabulous start to the day today, the warm sunshine shone across the meadows and along the river path to Flatford. It was an enjoyable cycle ride, only about 8 miles, but enough. A few jobs were inevitably awaiting my return, and I put them behind me with relish.

A friend's birthday afternoon on the beach beckoned next. At first, the thunder and heavy showers confined us to the lounge. Soon enough, though the skies brigthened and we headed for Frinton-on-sea. After a couple more showers on the way from the car to the beach, that was pretty much it for the afternoon.

It was far from warm, at best 18 C, but the girls didn't care a bit. Only the barbeque tore them away from their play. It was all going so well, until a wave washed over the barby and drowned the last of the sausages. We were pretty much out of beach and light, so it was time to go.

The huts at this end of the beach are mounted high on stilts, which makes for a perfect shelter underneath on showery summer afternoons.

Rain and beaches are starting to become a theme for this summer...
