Christmas Present

Today we enjoyed our Christmas present.

Our son had bought us for Christmas a gift voucher to the Bristol Lido.  This gave us three hours of relaxation at the lido which includes an open air swimming pool, steam room, sauna and hot tub. 

We chose to wait until summer to get the best weather conditions;  the British summer didn't cooperate fully but, although cloudy, it wasn't cold when we came out of the pool and we had no rain at all today.

Afterwards, our voucher included afternoon tea, starting with a glass of Prosecco and some really excellent smoked salmon.  All in all, a really relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.

The picture shows some of the changing cubicles alonside the pool.  The sides of the pool are raised above the surrounding ground level, so the changing rooms appear to be rising out of the water.

In the evening we went out for a meal with our son, who lives a short distance from the Lido.

We had originally planned to drive on to Devon tomorrow morning to stay with friends, but we have cancelled that and will be returning home because my sister is very ill.
