Granville Fritillaries

We saw quite a few Glanville Fritillaries amongst around 50 species recorded over half way up Mount Aragats in Armenia. These two were ensuring there will be more next year! Watching my colleagues running around boulder slopes below a snow field, in quite thin air, chasing likely Bowdens White, reminded me of the story about Lady Glanville. When she died, her relatives challenged her will on the grounds that anyone who chased around after butterflies had to be mad! Heading south tomorrow.
