TheAphid and The Moth
We went on two walks today hoping we wouldn't get rained on in the afternoon storms. Fortunately the forecast was wrong and it hasn't rained or stormed at all.
The first walk was gentler than yesterday's hike with quite boring scenery and not much insectlife at all. After lunch we decided to go and look for a particular butterfly (an Apollo with white wings and red spots) that was highlighted on an information board. The walk started by a small wildflower meadow full of bugs and butterflies and I think we would have been quite happy to have stayed there all afternoon. We reluctantly carried on and found ourselves hiking up through a forest for about an hour. This is where we met the Speckled Yellow Moth who decided to have a lift on TheAphid hand for about half an hour. It was quite amusing as everytime he tried to put it onto a leaf or tree it wouldn't budge.
We eventually reached the top and came out into farmland and wild flowers again as we made our descent to the road and back to the car. We saw lots of other insects including small blue butterflies and fritillaries so it all in all it was a good walk.
Thanks for all the lovely comments stars and heart for yesterday's fritillary I'm so glad you liked it too. I'm going to turn off comments as I'm finding it hard to keep up whilst we're away and hope you understand.
