Grouse railway
We have a few days off work and decided to head off into Muirshiel to try a walk we haven't done before. Part of the plan was to work out if we could bike it or get to it from home. There is a closer entrance, but would have required a walk through a field of highland cattle with massive horns... And I'm not sure we are technically competent enough to bike the route.
The path passes the remains of a narrow gauge railway which was built in the 1920s by a local landowner to ferry his pals to the moors for shooting. And it ran until the 1970s. Not much left, but some tracks, bridges and an old engine shed as in the extra.
A lovely day out, even if it was a touch drizzly. Now home, started on the gin and planning a very chilled out evening. Good times.
