Iceland

An interesting week to be in Iceland due to a) Iceland's greatest ever international football performance and b) the Brexit result which is completely the talk of Europe. Iceland itself is not keen on joining the EU out of concerns over fisheries policy.

After arriving we picked up the car and explored Iceland's southwestern peninsula. The less dramatic parts of Iceland resemble the most dramatic parts of Scotland, which isn't meant to bemoan Scotland in any way; just is the first comparison that came to mind.

Lush views are complemented everywhere by this purple Alaskan lupine, which is technically an invasive species introduced to help with soil erosion. It's difficult to rally against such pretty invasives the same way that you would a cane toad.

Bonus: Viking ship paraphernalia.
