Off To The Rovers Return for a Half of Stout

My Dear Fellow,

This is the view out of our back window. I quite like it, but can always hear the theme tune to "Coronation Street" play in my head when I see it. I imagine a cat sitting down and reading that Hilda Ogden's name is really Jean Alexander (which just doesn't sound right).

I haven't watched since Deidre left Ken. In fact, I think I was growing tired of it even then. I did love Stan and Hilda though, and Eddie Yeats (Slim Jim to Stardust Lil). I find it very amusing that Er Indoors now gets called "Mrs. O" just like Hilda.

I know you kept watching long after I did, and I know it is still hugely popular. But for me, some things I can only like in a specific time and place and it just doesn't work, modern. For me, Corrie is trapped in the 1970's with Len Fairclough and Annie Walker and Betty Turpin. You can't put them in the 80's. The 80s belong to Del Boy.

You know it makes sense, Rodders.
