Blackbird in Training
We have been feeding meal worms to this juvenile blackbird for a couple of weeks and she has let us get very close to her. Dear friend B. has been to stay for a couple of days and (by exercising a great deal of patience) has persuaded her to feed from her hand.
We are hoping to continue her training and win her trust. The tiny part of the yellow 'gape' she had as a chick is still visible at the side of her beak.
We had no birds visit our garden where we used to live as several cats used to patrol our tiny garden regularly. But since we've moved to Norfolk and have a much bigger garden we've had 23 different varieties of bird visit and they give us so much pleasure every day.
