What's left....

....of the peony are these tiny purple (??) stamens. They're maybe half an inch high, but even in this last stage I think they have beauty! It seems the ants still like them too! 
After the great weather we've been having, the temperature dropped from 88 last night to 62 this morning & no sun in sight--the house was pretty cold since there's a brisk wind blowing & we'd left all the windows wide open! It feels more like fall, although it's supposed to be warmer again after today. I've spent the morning making 3 dozen cranberry oatmeal cookies for the meal program--well, minus the 2 that Tom felt compelled to snitch--now I have some groceries to pick up, and then I can get back to my book--#4 in the GOT series! :))
