Gareth the Coracle Maker

The morrow brought more misery but we pressed on with our labours around Mick and Sara's house and barns hard by the Welsh border looking up to Hergest Ridge.

A leaking shower provided distraction as we traced the leak from joint to joint and then some loose tilework. This afforded a trip into Kington and  pint of the micro-brewed Arrow Ale at the Wine Vaults.

Later we went to the Brilley fete. The star attraction for me was Gareth the coracle maker. This is made from Ash lathes (the Wye valley variation?) whilst others use hazel withies. I also donated a small sum for a bottle of the man's 8.2% scrumpy appropriately named - for both the day and its effect - the Downward Spiral.
