Swan Lake
One of my favorite spots this - an almost completely reeded over lake in the Devilla Forest in Fife (just). A few years ago a swan (possibly the one in this shot) was left alone during the big freeze and looked so sad and lonely. It's a bit far away to go and feed him everyday, but I broke the ice for him on saturday mornings, and so did other folk by the look of things. I worried about the fate of his parter and cygnet, but there was a breeding pair the next spring - I don't know if it was the same one, but relieved all the same.
Today was a different matter - warm and wet. I'm not really a landscape photographer, so it was nice to make a classic reflection shot look a bit weird with my new full spectrum camera and a red filter. For those that aren't as geeky as me, it's a compact camera with the internal infrared blocking filter replaced with clear glass so I can take really strange photos with the help of a few filters to block out the parts of the light spectrum that we see. If you're reading this Andy, I've also installed the Canon CMDK firmware crack (that turned your bridge camera into a light painting tool), and it's turned this camera into a much better one that shoots RAW, time lapse and lots more.
