Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood
Having sensibly gone straight to bed last night, rather than sitting up until all hours, this morning wasn't nearly as painful as it might have been. As the sun shone, we gathered ourselves and headed to the park to meet up with yesterday's hosts for a picnic. Someone wandered back from the toilets in the park commenting "I know why no-one's sitting in that big patch over there - it's a swamp." At which four sets of small ears pricked up, and before we could issue any guidance about slipping (particularly for nearly-broken-arm-boy) and lack of clean clothes (for my hand-luggage-only-children), they were off.
It did look like fun. There was a lot of running, slipping and (apparently) frog chasing. And then they were hosed down with sparkly water from Scotland (nothing but the best) for the journey home - and much needed showers all round.
