Sleeping Poppy
Another late start today. Normally we go for a bike ride on Sunday mornings but the sound of rain pounding down put us off. After breakfast we watched the women's road race. Far more interesting than yesterday's bloke's race. The weather was far more cruel but it it made it more technically challenging and more nail-biting to watch. There was a lot more action the result was much more touch and go.
BBC coverage was as yesterday: a bit flaky, French TV manage a better job on Le Tour. ITV4 also manage better commentary, it was a bit lame on the Beeb today.
After the race was over and the rain stopped I went outside to explore. As with yesterday it was very breezy and everything was blowing all over the place. I've got lots of blurred flower images in the "round filing cabinet". I'm glad I went digital last year it would cost a fortune with film at the rate I throw images away!
Today's blip is a California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica). Even though I blipped it in full sun it clearly wasn't warm enough for it to be open as it's clearly asleep! The flowers are only open if they have been in full sun for quite a few hours and sadly that's not been the case for them today.
