Waters of Leith

Went to Colinton.  Walked along the 'Waters of Leith' to Balerno.    Obviously that involved a lot of splish, splash, sploshing.  Walked back to Colinton.  Our walk this afternoon took us two and a half hours.  Tired now!!!

But.................. Ann has a couple of questions for all you lovely Edinburgh Blippers................ Just what has happened to Colinton?  Practically all the shops were closed.  No newsagent, no supermarket, nothing open apart from a couple of hairdressers and a teeny weeny fruit & veg shop???  When Ann lived in Colinton in the 1970s the village was a thriving little community??!!

Anyway after my walk I had to wait in the car while Ann went to ASDA.  We’re entertaining tomorrow night and she’s going to attempt to make a lasagne.  Still haven’t got a clue how the oven works??!!  Well, obviously I haven't, because how many collie dogs do you know that can operate an oven???  Tomorrows dinner could end up being of the liquid variety (ie wine)??!!

Re the ‘big Edinburgh flat refurbishment’.....................

.................Tested out the washing machine (admittedly we haven’t a clue how old it is) & it didn’t work.  The drum didn’t turn, the water didn’t drain away and it’s obviously completely knackered!!  So now we’re going to have to try and buy a new washing machine next week and get it all plumbed in so that it can be tested.

Andy, (who is in charge of the ‘big Edinburgh flat refurbishment’) is going on holiday tomorrow for a week and we have a list of more than 30 ‘snagging’ issues.  OK so Ann is being particularly fussy but she’s really worried that if things don’t get sorted now, by the next time we come back our very lovely builders will have disappeared off into the sunset?!

Anyway, onwards & upwards........................

It’s a beautiful evening  in sunny Edinburgh, so Ann’s off out onto the balcony for a glass of wine in the sunshine.  Yay!
