Lines in the Sand

What a spectacular morning at the beach--the fog was in, thick and soft, all of us wrapped in a blanket of lovely grey light.

In the expanse of low tide, an artist works at his design, slowly raking the sand into an intricate pattern that he devises spontaneously as he moves within this particular environment. It is celebration, meditation, healing and connection, a work of comfort and wonder. The artist's name is Brandon, and his organization, FRPArt.org, seeks to promote the use of the arts as a catalyst for rehabilitation from various injuries and afflictions. He is a charming young man, himself dealing with chronic pain, and passionate about his art as a way to be present in the universe and find personal balance and healing. Here, I will let Brandon speak for himself:

Life's a cosmic jukebox, filled with all your favorite songs...
If it happens that the mood should strike you, dance every chance ya get

I am so pleased that I got to spend a few minutes in his company and witness the creation of this ephemeral piece. Between the surfers and the tides, it can't last long. "Nothing's permanent," says Brandon.

Bonus for today: it is our 27th Anniversary!
