She Just Can't Be Chained
(Again, rubbish photo, but taken on phone in low light with flash off and trying not to be seen as no-one else taking pictures.)
The last night of the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival saw Jools Holland and his R&B Orchestra hitting the Playhouse. I'm not a massive boogie woogie fan if I'm honest but bought a ticket just to see Gregory Porter, special guesting. The energy, enthusiam and love for Jools Holland was amazing from the outset, he was definitely preaching to the converted. I'm not sure I've ever seen such a reception for anyone at any of the many many gigs I've been too. Even more than Morrissey!
The orchestra is something else, Gregory was fantastic but, man alive, Ruby Turner was INCREDIBLE. I felt like I was in church. How she delivered that performance and didn't die is beyond me.
