Delightful discovery

This peaceful flower shot belies what is really happening here this week. We have three preteen grandchildren spending the time with us while their parents are in Europe. They are great kids, and other than some sibling skirmishes we've had a good time. 
I have to try to identify this flower. It blooms in the field, and I don't know if it's a wildflower, or an escapee from some earlier inhabitants flowerbed.
