Pied-billed Grebe Baby Ducks
It was such a great day at Commonwealth Lake Park today and I was able to find the pied-billed grebe babies. One of the parents spent quite a bit of time reinforcing a high spot near some reads at the edge of the pond, on the opposite side of the pond from the actual nest. Here they piled green algae from the bottom of the pond....beak after beak of it, until there was a nice little platform for the babies.
I was able to get a few videos and it's so fun to watch the little ones climb under the feathers....I think you'll enjoy it.
Those videos and more photos are on my flickr page.
