Please don't go

That 'Der Spiegel'* should at the beginning of June focus on the EU referendum and take 23 pages to explain the ins and outs to its readership in both English and German, was inspiring.
But today Der Bild** used their front page to beg the Brits to stay in Europe, and used humour to do it...
'Dear Britain', it says, 'if you stay in the EU...
we will acknowledge the Wembley goal,
we won't make any more jokes about Prince Charles' ears,
we will willingly provide the villain for every Bond film,
we will use our beach towels to reserve sun loungers for you at the hotel pool in the morning
And so on.

Fingers crossed.

* a weekly news magazine here that specializes in investigative journalism
** a 'news'paper that no-one wants to admit to buying, but everyone will pick up and read (often thought of as the Sun's equivalent)
