Onteora, That's Why I Love You
Perfect day.
I relaxed all morning. I finished up Metalwork with Nick this morning and then we went back to camp and played Blokus. The storm messed up the water system at camp so we ate cold cut sandwiches for lunch and the staff handed us all water bottles and Gatorade. We went to open shoot at archery after lunch and I'm not as bad as I thought I would be. We hung out at camp all afternoon and started to pack everything up. For dinner, we had a barbecue at the longhouse and went to religious services after the meal. We walked to the fire ring by the lake for the closing campfire. This time, the Scouts preformed the skits. We did "The Funky Song" and it was a hit. This was undoubtedly the best closing campfire in all my years of going to Onteora. We sang and chanted the whole way back to camp. Nick and I went to the First Aid station so that I could take my medicine after the fire. We heard kids playing frisbee in the James E. West field and went to see who it was. Logan, a kid that I met from Bellmore, was there, and we hung around with him for a bit. We went back to camp with him and Nick (the counselor) and when we got there we played cards and roasted marshmallows. At about 11:00, we walked down to the lake to see the stars, and this is what you get. I wish that I'd had a tripod so that the pictures would have been better but I made due with what I had. We went back to the site around midnight and went to bed.
