Curlew
The curlew is the largest European wading bird, instantly recognisable on winter estuaries or summer moors by its long, downcurved bill, brown upperparts, long legs and evocative call.
The early summer has brought a good number of curlews to our fells.
This one was walking along the wall of our garden, creating such a noise. We wondered whether her babies had been lost as the farmers have been cutting our fields and baling the grass.
Sad if so but I guess that's just a hazard of the countryside.
