Hebrides Day 7, over to the East
Today we went over to the East of the Island. We drove through deserted moorland covered in bog cotton. A golden eagle surprised us when it flew overhead.
A long road took us to Tolsta beach where we walked in the sunshine and were amazed at the large expanse of sand.Lots of hairy caterpillars were crawling through the dunes.
We drove along the Road to no where and over the bridge to no where. Fine views across the beaches and the lily covered loch.
More great views on the way back to Stornoway including a ruined mill and small chapel. A win surfer was enjoying the strong winds and zoomed along the coast.
The evening was bright and sunny and a fantastic rainbow spread across the bay in front of where we are staying. We walked up the road to see the little pigs that had just been fed.
