Extremely Large Paint-By-Numbers Project

Over 50 local artists and community members joined forces to work on a 100-foot mural celebrating A History of Scotts Valley at the Movies. Designed in five different but complementary sections, the piece is rich with local symbolism and references to the many films made in this area. Sketches for the panels were projected on the long white wall of the movie theater last night, then traced and color-coded to accommodate all the painters. The goal is to complete A Mural in a Day. When I left shortly before noon, they were a good half way to the goal, with new artists and spectators arriving steadily.
