Glen Etive
I decided for another relaxed(ish) day today, walking about 15km around Buachaille Etive Beag, a couple of munros that I had climbed a few weeks before. Visibility was rubbish that day so I was really glad to see the sun and was hoping for good views.
I did the first side very quickly, going at my usual far-too-fast pace. Just before I got to the mid point at the other side of the munros (down in Glen Etive), I saw a big group of walkers and decided to try and catch up with them. I'm still a bit scared of walking due to the thunderstorm, and being close to other people makes me much happier. So I started walking as quickly as I could, turning back on several occasions to take the most wonderful photos of Glen Etive as I climbed (what I missed out on at the top of Buachaille Etive Beag).
It turns out that I managed to catch up with them very quickly, and that they were part of a walking holiday. All were over 30, and most over 50, and they were all extremely interested in finding out about my solo walking and what I have been up to lately. It was so so great to be able to talk to people for so long. It was an incredibly lonely week without anyone to talk to, and I was feeling pretty depressed by that point, so I was very excited to talk to them! I even tried to leave at lunch but everyone was so keen for me to stay that I ended up spending all day with them, walking at a very relaxed and lovely pace. I am very thankful to them for talking to me and being so interested!
I then headed over to Amy's house in Glencoe for even more social contact! Her birthday had been on Tuesday so she had decided to invite a few of us over for a weekend of walking and relaxing. I was even happier when I got to see all my friends again, and we stayed up talking until we all got far too tired :)
