She Believed She Could, So She DId
Hard to believe that we dropped this little girl off at Lord Home Halls four years ago wondering if she would last the weekend.
Hard to believe that time has passed and that little girl has been replaced by this confident, gorgeous, specimen who's all educated in Mathematics, and Actuarial Sciences and Statistics.
I didn't know how I would feel yesterday watching her graduate - we were all fine giggling and laughing in the car on the way there, and grabbing donuts before the gowning....
And then we walked into the Gowning Hall and all of a sudden my Baby was gone.
It took all my strength not to cry standing there watching her, before my eyes become so different, so suddenly, just with the addition of a gown.
I blinked back the tears and hoped her dad would hold it together when he saw her.
I'm not sure if he did, I couldn't meet his eye.
Then it was photos, and friends, and speeches, and doffing of caps, and singing, and that was it.
And then Boy text and said "I so wish I was there...." I had to bite my lip again
Then champagne and canapes, more chatting and photos, last goodbye to a mentor, and then hotels, and dinner out.
Exhausting day, but such a brilliant one, full of laughter, and pride, and friends, and sunshine, and gowns.
And then as she stood for one last time in front of the doors of Heriot Watt, we grabbed a last photo of her in her gown - and yes, she did have a dress on, but it was a dress in Toolibelle Style - and the light bounced off the camera creating the rainbow - a very positive sign if ever I saw one :-)
Happy Graduation Baby - How Proud we are of you.
